One more fishing trip

Ruri's skating practice resumes Sunday next week, so this may be the last Sunday we could go fishing...so we went, to Santa Cruz. We got some bait at the shop on the pier, but the pier was closed for fishing because of a triathlon. So we went towards the coast line and found a spot with a car park and access to the rocky beach.

Takeru nearly got a red crab, but it got away before he could reel it in. I caught a sting ray, the guy next to me told me not to try to grab it with my hand and retrieve the hook as he got really stung badly when he did this before. The fish swallow the hook and was impossible for me to retrieve, so I just cut the line and released it into one of the holes, waiting for the tide to bring it back to the sea.

Fishing fun

Spent the labor day weekend fishing all over the bay: Berkeley, Richmond, Pacific Pier, Halfmoon Bay.
- Berkeley: nothing
- Richmond: our neighbor caught two leopard sharks, Takeru and I got nothing. Our neighbor was quite disappointed as that is his usual fishing place. But Takeru liked the leopard sharks!
- Pacifica Pier: Got a lot of crabs (not in season so we have to release them) then I caught what everyone called a King fish, but I'm not sure what it is. We do have the photo.
- Halfmoon Bay, Takeru caught his first fish (a Sardine) and then half a dozen assorted small fishes.
