SF Inline Marathon

Finally my first real Marathon, and I did it within the time that I thought I could do it: 1h37m01s. I went forward at the start and tried to hang on with the lead pack as long as I can. I managed one lap, then fell back to a group of 4 master/veterans pack, which I thought I could hang on to for some time, which I did. I was able to hang on to this group for another 7 laps, doing my part of the pulling when my turn is up. Here I committed a mental lapse, I stoodup to relax, not realizing someone is behind me. He got very upset that I created a gap for him to catch up, and in the blink of time, I decided to drop out of the pack. I believe I could have toughed out another 1 or 2 laps, or even stay with them the whole time. Alas, skating solo in a strong head wind, my lap time increased 1 minute for the next 9 laps due to loss of draft position. The next pack was a lap behind me so I wasn't going to wait. This lasted until the end....the good news is that I didn't let the chase pack behind me get to me. So all in all it was a great race for me and I know what I need to do to improve. My next target is to skate below 1h30m in next years SF marathon. If I can draft it longer I can do it (it works out I can shave 1 minute per lap is I drafted). Anyways, some photos.

At start:

No gap!

Tough if out.
