Racing mentality

Last Sunday we had some people from another club to join our practice. Ruri was doing a lot of races with her peer from the other club who beat her in all races during the regional meet. This time, Ruri was quite determined and won/tie all races (must have been at least half dozen) from 1 lap to 3 laps. One of the race she even came back from behind to tie on the finish line.

Some major improvement I notices:

• She is doing around 45 laps in 100 lap burn consistently now. She shoul be able to break into 50 in the next week or so.
• She does a very good job at start moving quickly to the right side track then cutting back to into the corner thus getting a good lead coming out of the second pylon.
• She is trying to do some power passing with her peer, although she still need to time it better (she wasn't doing any serious passing drills with the slower kids early in the season)
• She is also doing a lot of off the floor plays like tags, tricks etc which will get her more balance

I think she is quite happy about her improvement and so do I. We'll see the result in the next meet.
